Amid the ballyhoo over the return of David Lynch’s ground breaking television series, Twin Peaks, this week I caught a replay of a bit of the opening of the first episode from 1990. FBI agent Dale Cooper, pitch-perfectly played by Kyle MacLachlan, drives toward the town of Twin Peaks in Washington state while speaking into a dictaphone. After some preliminary case details, he can’t but help interrupt, remarking with wide eyed wonder, “I’ve never seen so many trees.” Let us take that as a reminder of the wonder of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. For where would these communities be without the trees? Now is the best time to experience this wonder when Spring allows us to observe the trees’ structural beauty giving way to their gifts of color and cover during the coming heat.
At long last we’ll be making regular posts. Soon! Thanks.
